What is a trip permit?

‚ÄčA. A trip permit is a temporary permit issued in lieu of IRP credentials for properly registered vehicles which are not licensed for the jurisdiction in which immediate travel is desired. Carriers should secure a trip permit prior to entering a jurisdiction for which they are not apportioned. Louisiana trip permits are valid for 48 hours at a cost of $50.00 and are available at a port of entry or through one of the wire service companies shown below:
