CLP Extension
In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) granted a waiver that provides needed relief from certain regulations applicable to Commercial Learner’s Permits (CLP). As a result of that waiver, Louisiana has extended the expiration of CLP’s until June 30, 2020 provided:
- The CLP holder’s Louisiana license expired on or after March 1, 2020
- The expiration of the CLP is on or after March 1, 2020
- The CLP holder’s driving privileges are not suspended or withdrawn for traffic offenses
- The CLP holder has proof of a valid medical certificate that is either currently valid or did not expire until March 1, 2020 or later. A paper copy of the medical certificate must be carried by the CLP holder.
Additional coronavirus (COVID-19) information and resources can be found on
FMCSA’s website.
